Overview
ZFI Transport – Fleet Technician
Responsible for the hands-on cleaning, disinfection, and overall upkeep of the company’s vehicle fleet and fleet facility to ensure readiness and high standards of cleanliness. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining vehicles and equipment. Mechanical skills are a plus but not required; however, an interest in vehicle maintenance is beneficial.
Responsibilities- Execute established strategies to reduce costs, including fuel, maintenance, and operational expenses.
- Schedule and monitor routine maintenance and repairs for all fleet vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles comply with safety regulations.
- Maintain a record of all service schedules, repairs, and inspections.
- Coordinate with external and internal repair shops and service providers for specialized maintenance.
- Must be able to meet established deadlines.
- Must continually monitor and enforce biosecurity protocols.
- Must maintain facility cleanliness and upkeep, and coordinate building maintenance with the operations manager when necessary.
- Implement and enforce safety programs to reduce accidents and ensure proper vehicle handling.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company’s fleet.
- Must be capable of developing and performing technically complex tasks.
- 80% - Shop Time
- Cleaning, detailing, and inspecting fleet vehicles. These daily tasks include power washing and handling cleaning and disinfecting agents.
- Scheduling maintenance and completing simple repairs, changing bulbs, and checking fluid levels.
- 20% - Office/Driving
- Preparing Route Schedule
- Contacting vendors
- Ability to drive overnights on short notice
An automotive or mechanical background is preferred but not required. Previous experience is not as important as an individual’s willingness to learn and to settle for nothing less than a job done right.
Communication & SkillsThe Fleet Technician must be able to communicate clearly, verbally, and digitally. All instructions, including safety, biosecurity, and daily activities, will be given in English. Basic computer skills are required for this position. The individual must be able to effectively communicate with their supervisor or their chain of command by phone calls, texts, and/or emails daily.
