Supervisor-Millwork Whse/Millwork Dispatcher (Administrative) Position Summary

Manage all aspects of the Waverly millwork deliveries, express deliveries, drive-thru operations, and warehouse operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understanding of FMCSA rules/guidelines, ELD and DOT regulations as related to dispatch and driver/load selection.
  • Assist with activities related to dispatching, routing or tracking transportation vehicles.
  • Set up and administer daily dispatch operations.
  • Dispatch drivers for pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Track drivers and equipment to facilitate the timely delivery of lumber products to final destinations.
  • Provide prompt notification to Chief Dispatch as fleet issues arise.
  • Reconcile delivery/credit documents and key data.
  • Administer, train, and troubleshoot DOT drivers on ELD use and compliance.
  • Advise drivers and help manage their time using ELD to continually improve daily and weekly performance.
  • Answer driver, staff and customer calls; send and respond to emails related to pick-ups/deliveries.
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction in all areas of the delivery service.
  • Work closely with other dispatch staff, production and sales team members to develop and improve efficiency & productivity to meet customers' expectations.
  • Coordinate efforts with Fleet supervisor/Chief dispatch to repair and maintain vehicles.
  • Assist with vehicle/equipment incidents and/or failures; take appropriate and effective course of action.
  • Promote a safe work environment by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, or meeting with individual staff members.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
  • Act as a backup lumber & manufacturing dispatcher when needed.
  • Supervise all receiving, credit purchase orders and put-aways in the drive-thru, and millwork warehouse.
  • Supervise, develop & train retail sales associates, drive-thru associates, millwork warehouse associates, and express/millwork delivery associates.
  • Responsible to manage & protect drive-thru and millwork inventories; investigate and correct inventory issues.
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts as needed.
  • Audit and correct all unsafe work activities.
  • Supervise all credit return activities for the millwork warehouse.
  • Manage maintenance of all delivery and warehouse equipment.
  • Recommend inventory items that should be discontinued and items that should be brought into stock.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 1-year in transportation & logistics, dispatch experience.
  • Knowledge of Nebraska and surrounding state regulations regarding height and weight maximums preferred.
  • Forklift experience, Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) experience a plus.
Other Requirements
  • DOT certification and valid, unrestricted license preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Work morning/evening hours during the week, required weekends.
  • Maintenance of regular attendance.
  • Ensure dispatch software programs are updated as needed.

Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements
  • Normal office conditions apply and may be performed within a warehouse or production environment.
  • Must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work; must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard.
  • Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist; occasionally lift/push/pull up to 80 pounds.
  • Working conditions are subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
