Journeyman/Apprentice Lineman. Custer Public Power is currently seeking aLineman for the Thedford outpost. This position is open to both Journeyman and Apprentice level applicants. The Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman represents CPPD to customers. This position performs construction and maintenance of districttransmission, substation, and distribution facilities. This position is the culmination of an extended training period planned to develop a competent craftsman who can provide the needed services for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the electrical distribution system.
The Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman is expected to be able toperform all types of line work with or without supervision. The Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman should provide supervision to and assist Apprentice Lineman and Groundman.
High school diploma or GED is required. Associate degree in line construction desired.
Completion of the four-year, Merchants Program (or equivalent) desired (required fornew employees and for current employees for advancement or lateral movement). Mustbe or will be trained in CPR, basic first aid and capable of pole top and bucket truckrescue.
Individuals without prior line experience or formal education in line construction who are interested in becoming a lineman are encouraged to apply. Custer Public Power Districtwill provide in-house education and hands-on training for motivated candidates who are willing to learn and develop the skills necessary to succeed in this career.
Location is Thedford-based fieldwork.
