Position: FTTP Field Service Technician I

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Start your day knowing it probably won’t be typical and brand-new tasks not listed below are bound to come up.
* Select routes and place/bury drops for residential fiber plant.
* Operate equipment needed to install buried drops.
* Yard and landscaping restoration.
* Climbing a ladder will be required for aerial drop work.
* Whether flying solo or tackling the day as a team, you’ll be expected to work efficiently and productively. Flexibility is key.
* Select materials for use in construction of fiber distribution system.
* Secure necessary locates through 1-call system before work is initiated.
* Document the construction of fiber plant and provide daily and weekly production reports to the Supervisor.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
* Provide a safe work environment by being knowledgeable of and enforcing all state, local, federal safety regulations and company safety policies.
* Operate and monitor company-owned vehicle and equipment by inspecting condition daily and maintaining a valid driver’s license.
* Restoration work – duties as assigned.
* Ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from immediate home office area based on client needs, business needs and project scope.
* You will be expected to lift up to 100 pounds.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

* Preferred physical labor experience

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
* Thorough knowledge of ALLO construction procedures.
* Ability to gain knowledge of fiber construction and material.
* Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and the ability to learn Smartsheets.
* Ability to communicate with internal and external customers, contractors and company employees.
* Ability to work evenings and weekends.
* Ability to travel outside of the home office area for extended periods of time based on project and business need.

MUST BE ABLE TO:
* Operate a company vehicle
* Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
* Pull a trailer with equipment loaded on it
* Includes hooking up and backing up
* Able to do general maintenance for vehicle and trailers
* Work DOT inspection sheet and obtain DOT physical
* Keep truck and trailer clean and organized
* Work power tools
* Climb ladder up to 35’
* Run heavy walk behind machinery
* Read a measuring tape
* Utilize personal cell phone for business purposes
* Work solo or with a team
* Work with small items i.e., splice ends, snips and cleavers (will teach right candidate)
* Be punctual and ready to work
