ResponsibilitiesJoin a company that cares about its employees and invests in your training! The Shop Diesel Mechanic/Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs efficiently and professionally.
Essential Job Duties/Functions:
- Performs PMs and oil changes
- Greases trucks and trailers
- Performs tire services
- Performs CSA/DOT inspections
- Performs service calls and night call outs
- Conducts electrical repairs and diagnoses
- Performs wheel end repairs (e.g., S-cam/bushing replacement, spindle repairs, etc.)
- Repairs air systems, HVAC, coolant systems, starting/charging systems, engine, steering/suspension, drivetrain, and transmission as needed
- Maintains shop cleanliness and equipment
- Completes work orders accurately
- Ensures customer satisfaction and safety compliance
- Follows all safety policies and completes OSHA training
- Provides friendly customer service and reports to work as scheduled
Additional Duties:
- Assists with other tasks as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- Two years minimum experience as a diesel technician
- Certification in Tire Service (TIA within 18 months)
- Air Brake Certification
- DOT Medical Card
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and insurability
- Complete brake and wheel seal training
- Willing to attend HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training
- Ability to obtain ASE, DOT, TIA certifications
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed
- Reliable transportation and phone
- English communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
- Must occasionally lift/move up to 75 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing
- Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
