Overview
Boyd's Electrical Service is seeking a heavy equipment operator to work in our earth moving division. The ideal candidate would have experience proficiently and accurately operating earth moving equipment such as excavators, loaders, and similar equipment, with a good understanding of the mechanical aspects of the equipment and the ability to perform daily maintenance and repair tasks as needed to keep equipment in good working order.
The candidate must be able to read civil prints to establish required grade elevations, understand and follow written or spoken instructions, and give and understand hand signals. Applicants must hold a current driver’s license; a Class A CDL would be a plus. This is a full-time position with eligibility for company benefits, including health insurance, retirement IRA with company match, paid holidays, paid vacation/sick leave, company tools, and paid continuing education expenses if applicable.
Applicants offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a pre-employment physical exam.
- Operate hand and power tools as needed.
- Operate excavating equipment such as excavators, loaders, and similar equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Read civil prints and establish grade elevations as required.
- Read, understand, and follow written or spoken instructions; provide and understand hand signals.
- Travel to jobsites in the Nebraska area as needed.
- Valid driver’s license, ideally a Class A CDL.
- Experience and proficiency in operating earth-moving equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders).
- Ability to perform daily maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Ability to lift up to and in excess of 75 pounds; ability to climb ladders or stairs.
- Willingness to work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions; ability to work extended hours as needed.
- Travel to Nebraska job sites as needed.
- Effective and professional communication with management, customers, and colleagues.
