Your Day to Day

As an Assistant Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving business through direct sales solicitation and driving sales revenue in rooms, public space, food & beverage, and ancillary products and services in order to achieve overall hotel’s objectives. You will be expected to build and maintain strong customer relationships that encourage repeat business, while actively developing new client connections to increase demand and revenue.

PEOPLE

Manage assigned account base to exceed targets for total revenue.

Establish strong working relationship with bookers, purchasers and maintain accurate and updated information about their hotel needs and requests.

Research market place to actively prospect and qualify potential new accounts.

Develop relationship and maintain contact with key decision makers, influencers, meeting planners, event organisers, associations and other producers to produce group and/or convention business, room sales, food & beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.

Maintain client files and update information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Produce monthly sales-related reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility.

Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Accurately produce and/or review all sales contracts, rate agreements, and/or banquet/catering event orders.

Monitor and report on sales activity undertaken and measurement of results through maintaining of accurate records in the sales tools and action plans.

Conduct sales-related activities (such as sales calls, site inspections and in-house entertainments) per week in line with targets.

Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients. Entertain clients in accordance with established company and hotel policies and guidelines.

Act as a trusted business advisor by clients; ensure that commitments are met and value is delivered.

Work closely with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients. Disseminate sales-related information to other departments as appropriate.

Maintain regular contact with the IHG hotels in your region and the regional reservation office.

Ensure the whole client experience successful and memorable and act as the brand ambassador and key contact throughout their journey.

Raise the awareness and reputation of your hotel and the brand locally.

Other ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done.

What we need from you

Diploma/Degree in Business or Hospitality management or related disciplines.

Minimum 2 years experience in an established hotel or equivalent work experience including development of account portfolio and business development. Experienced Assistant Sales Managers are welcome to apply.

Strong presentation, commercial and communication skills.

Strategic and tactical thinker - ability to develop strategic sales plans, establish goals and objectives, set performance targets and deliver projects on time.

Proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relations with clients and stakeholders including customers’ senior management.

Comprehension of hotel systems and revenue management principles.

Keeps abreast of changes and assesses trends in market conditions and consumer buying behaviour to create strategies that drive business opportunities.
