Position Overview
NCTA is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Food Service Associate to serve in a flexible, on-call capacity. Work hours may be scheduled in advance or requested on an as-needed basis, depending on operational needs.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of food service tasks across cafeteria, deli, catering, and related areas.
- Set up and close down stations; cook, prep ingredients, and restock supplies.
- Maintain food quality and presentation standards; monitor temperature, taste, and appearance.
- Operate dish machines and perform general cleaning and light custodial duties.
- Control food costs and waste; assist with inventory and recipe prep.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with cashiering and computer use.
- Train others as needed; perform additional duties as assigned.
Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as O/S On Call Hourly.

Minimum
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent experience, plus one year of experience in a work environment required.
- Ability to read, write, weigh and measure necessary.
- Ability to learn food service techniques and use of equipment essential.
- Customer service skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience in cafeteria and deli food service operations.
- Knowledge of Serve Safe guidelines.
- Familiarity with cash registers and money handling.
