An RN Oncology Unit Manager is a specialized Registered Nurse responsible for overseeing the operations of a cancer care unit. Their role encompasses managing staff, coordinating patient treatment, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff. They serve as leaders, mentors, and communication links among patients, families, and the healthcare team, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Managing daily unit operations and nursing schedules
- Ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Coordinating complex treatment plans and serving as a clinical resource
- Mentoring and training nursing staff, supporting their professional development
- Implementing quality improvement initiatives and using data to enhance care
- Assisting with budgeting and promoting cost‑effective practices
- Education:
BSN preferred; active Nebraska RN license required - Experience:
At least two years in acute care, with substantial oncology experience preferred - Certification:
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) desirable - Skills:
Leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and professionalism
