Responsibilities- The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
- Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting.
- Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes age- and population-specific standards related to the resident's physical and psychosocial needs per care plan.
- Performs testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provides needed care.
- Recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively to assist in emergent situations.
- Ensures the health, comfort and safety of residents; administers medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed and documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medications, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public; collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Communicates clearly and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Counsels residents, family members and/or resident advocate on prevention and treatment plans under supervision.
- Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. An Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- If position requires IV therapy/management, meet North Dakota requirements as specified in the job posting.
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or have at least 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility. Specific positions may have additional education or experience requirements.
- Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with state nursing board and/or multi-state licensure privileges. Maintains department-specific competencies and certifications; completes required annual CEUs and competency training.
