Shift: Night Shift | 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to residents in a long-term care setting during the overnight shift. The LPN works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents while delivering high-quality, compassionate care in accordance with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to long-term care residents during overnight hours
Administer medications and treatments as ordered and in accordance with scope of practice
Monitor residents' conditions and report changes to the RN or physician promptly
Perform routine assessments, vital signs, and charting accurately and timely
Respond to resident needs, emergencies, and call lights during night shift
Provide wound care, catheter care, and other skilled nursing procedures as assigned
Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers during overnight hours
Supervise and support nursing assistants (STNAs/CNAs) as assigned
Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic or paper medical record
Provide compassionate care and emotional support to residents and families
Qualifications
Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred
Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions overnight
Working Conditions
Overnight schedule in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility
Requires standing, walking, lifting, and assisting residents as needed
May involve exposure to infectious diseases and emergency situations
