Job Status: Full Time (36 hours)
Hours: varies
Compensation: Competitive wage
Sign-on Bonus: $12,000 - $15,000 depending on experience.
Shift Differential- Sunday – Thursday Nights - $3.50/hour
- Friday – Saturday Nights - $6.00/hour
- Weekend Days $2.50/hour
- Charge Differential: $3.00/hour

The Staff Nurse RN is responsible for the formation and implementation of comprehensive nursing care through the application of professional values, knowledge, and skills. He/she functions under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse for the Cherry County Hospital and Clinic.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Evaluated nursing needs of each patient on a continuing basis, and assists in determining the nursing care to be given
- Provides direct nursing care by performing nursing procedures following hospital policy and procedures to ensure patient safety, respond effectively in emergency situations, acting as the patient’s advocate
- Continually assesses patient status according to data collected, i.e., signs and symptoms, abnormal diagnostic data, health education, emotional and spiritual needs
- Formulate oral and written documentation of patients’ condition
- Acts as liaison between patients, physicians, and personnel from other departments
- Assists in patient teaching and discharge planning
- Works efficiently with physicians and assists them in patient care, emergency room, labor and delivery
- Assists in planning of nursing care for members of the team
- Assists in training of new personnel
- Assists with evaluation of work performance of staff members
- Instructs professional and nonprofessional staff through conferences and example.
- Assists the charge nurse in supervising, guiding, motivating, counseling, correcting, and commending
- Participates in at least 50% of the continuing education programs on a yearly basis
- Attends monthly staff meetings
- Assists in keeping the nursing unit clean and tidy
- Assists with admission and other paperwork
- Uses the intercom system and answers the phone
- Assists with Quality Assurance review of charts
- Ensures the confidentiality of patients’ medical, personal, and financial records is maintained
- Knowledgeable of and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures
- Complies with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required
- Requires a basic theoretical nursing knowledge with application of knowledge and skills
- Ability to make sound judgements and decisions concerning patient care
- Recognizes the proper channels of communication
- Knowledge of physical organization of the hospital, as well as the hospital policies and procedures
- Understands the legal aspect of nursing
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality regarding patient care services
- Keeps abreast of new trends and developments in nursing
- Interested in continuing professional growth
- Has a preference for working with the public and other staff
- Desires to be responsible for and manage other staff
- Possesses personal qualities, which enable the nurse to maintain good interpersonal relationships and work well with people; examples of these are good judgement, understanding, loyalty, respect for the person as an individual, and empathy
- Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position
