Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care, providing resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision. The NA delivers age‑appropriate physical and psychosocial care, assists with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital‑signs monitoring, transfers, and range‑of‑motion exercises. The role includes food preparation, housekeeping, laundry assistance, and participation in wellness and recreational programs.

The NA documents interactions, reports changes in condition, and may assist with procedures and departmental committees as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED (preferred, not required)
  • Minimum age of 16
  • Prior long‑term care or nursing assistant experience preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state‑certified CNA within four months of start date
  • Completes yearly department‑specific competency testing and maintains continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually)
  • Maintenance of all required certifications and records
  • Certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry where applicable
  • Possibility of classifying as a Sanford Category II Driver (requires valid driver’s license and medical qualification)
