** A Brief Summary of This Position
** The primary responsibility of the Outside Shipper is to accurately pick, count, and pack parts for shipment to our customers.  Outside Shipper 1 is the first step in a progressive line of shipping positions which enables employees to move into higher level positions as they gain experience and acquire additional skills.  Responsibilities include operating a variety of material handling  and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner.  

The Outside Shipper will also be expected to maintain appropriate housekeeping and safety standards.
** Essential Functions
*** Accurately picks, counts, packs and loads parts for shipment.
* Operates the following equipment in a safe an efficient manner: forklift, overhead cranes, hand and banding tools, and saws.
* Responds in a positive fashion to the direction of a shift supervisor or lead, participating in departmental/cell team functions.
* Maintains housekeeping in the area.
* Observes all safety rules to company standards.
* Understands and complies with department quality procedures.
* Reads order pick lists and recognizes major parts by sight (tires, gearbox, pipe, etc.).
* Works varying shifts as required for business needs.
** Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

)
*** The ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, read, write, and count.
* The ability to work with wood and small hand tools such as tape measures, saws and drills.
* The ability to stand, bend, push, pull, climb, lift and move about the warehouse.
* The ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds safely throughout the shift.
* The ability to use e-mail.
* The ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs.
* The ability to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, straddle trucks, shag trucks, or weigh counting scales.
* An acceptable work history and attendance record.
* Satisfactory safety record and must always be aware of others safety as well as their own.
** Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
*** Material handling and inventory experience.
* Experience with banding equipment.
** Educational Background
*** Must be able to read, write, and understand plainly written documents in English such as order pick lists, move tags, part orders, and rejected tags.
* Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.
* Do simple math (add, subtract, divide and multiply both whole numbers and fractions).
* Possess legible penmanship.
* Use a calculator.
* Use a computer.
** Job Training Skill Development
** Employee with the above mentioned education should be able to perform 70% of this job in 60 days and 90% of the job in 6 months including the tasks indicated below. Previous related work experience could shorten the training time.
* Uses a hand-held barcode scanner.
* Uses an imperial tape measure.
* Uses some hand tools relevant to the shipping department.
* Operates the banding equipment.
* Works as a blocker (includes international pit).
* Helps pack crates.
* Helps with angel line.
* Helps with truss rods.
* Replenishes forklift zone.
* Bundles base beams.
** Decision Making
** Employee makes routine decisions with much of this job covered by standard practices. Uses of good common sense and quality control procedures are essential aspects of completing this job in a successful manner. The employee should be able to recognize major errors in shipping and part order papers and bring them to the attention of their crew leader or supervisor.

Be able to meet requirements of position with a minimal amount of supervision.
** Physical Effort
** Physical effort is moderate to heavy. A high degree of physical effort is used due to continuous heavy lifting. Employee is lifting 35 to 50 lbs. approximately 80-90% of the time. Standing, bending, or walking is required 85% of the time. Loading of international irrigation products in closed containers can cause the employee to climb and lift in unusual positions.
