We are now hiring for an Operations Superintendent for our Syracuse, NE location. This position is being offered as full-time with benefits.
The Operations Superintendent supports the Location Manager by overseeing the daily operations of a grain rail loadout facility. This role leads operational staff, coordinates rail loading activities, manages grain inventory and quality, and ensures efficient, safe movement of grain through the facility. The Superintendent plays a key role in maintaining operational performance, equipment reliability, and customer service standards.
Essential duties:- Lead and coordinate daily work activities of Operations Associates at the rail loadout facility.
- Oversee grain receiving, storage, and railcar loading operations to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely shipments.
- Monitor grain quality, condition, and storage capacity to maintain product integrity and maximize storage utilization.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound grain shipments, ensuring proper blending, drying, aeration, and grain movement as needed.
- Ensure railcars are loaded safely, accurately, and in compliance with company and railroad requirements.
- Maintain operational readiness of rail loadout equipment, elevators, conveyors, scales, and related systems.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with leadership on grain movement and shipment planning.
- Assist with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs of facility equipment and machinery.
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing company safety standards and complying with OSHA and applicable regulations.
- Support customer service by ensuring accurate documentation, shipment coordination, and timely communication.
- High school diploma or GED required; agriculture or grain operations background preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in grain handling, elevator operations, rail loadout, or agricultural operations preferred.
- Knowledge of grain quality management, grain handling systems, and rail loading procedures.
- Ability to operate equipment such as conveyors, augers, front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and grain handling systems.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math and interpret operational documents such as scale tickets, load sheets, and safety procedures.
