A Fabricator will set up their production area by reading sketches and designs to determine the configuration of the parts being made that day. They will modify or create programs as needed and operate CNC machines such as saws, brakes, panel masters, and angle masters, as well as other machinery that punch, cut, shape, bend, or plasma cut different kinds of metal.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data of parts to determine dimensions and configuration.
- Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outline the sequence of operations required to machine the part.
- Maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment by cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts.
- Revise programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations, including the reporting of any hazards, violations, or injuries to the Team Leader no matter how minor.
- Operate safety equipment and help provide a safe working environment by maintaining good housekeeping practices.
- Work overtime and weekends as required by the Team Leader to meet customer needs.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to add and subtract using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Read a tape measure in both metric and standard units.
- Must be able to use calipers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints (preferred).
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as metguard boots, protective eyewear, hard hats, gloves, ear plugs, etc.
