Job Summary

The Process Control Supervisor analyzes and suggests ways to improve operations for the entire cement manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished milling. The position monitors, supervises and evaluates hourly employees, inspects equipment, determines repairs, writes work orders, and coordinates maintenance and preventative programs.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrate pyro-processing expertise in performing regular responsibilities.
  • Participate in the training of control room operators on proper plant equipment usage.
  • Work closely with shift process teams to ensure mills and pyro lines operate at peak efficiency.
  • Monitor and develop frontline process employees’ routine inspection program and task training.
  • Communicate job performance to employees.
  • Implement changes for optimal operating conditions in fuel, electrical efficiency and production rate in coordination with the process engineer.
  • Revise and maintain the plant production report.
  • Collaborate with team members from prior and following shifts regarding production operations, problems and adjustments.
  • Monitor daily inventory of materials in the plant and ensure proper documentation.
  • Coordinate efforts with maintenance, shipping, and quarry departments.
  • Supervise contractors working on projects during shifts.
  • Coordinate supervision for plant operations during night and weekend shifts.
  • Perform relief duties for the production supervisor and superintendent as specified.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • Vocational/Technical degree preferred in production, process control or similar field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a production supervisor role.
  • Preferably 2 years as a control room operator or process engineer in the cement industry.
  • Uses independent judgment in performing responsibilities.
  • Works from general policies and objectives.
  • Requests clarification from supervisor when needed.
  • Exercise direct or indirect supervision over hourly production employees.
  • May also supervise personnel working off‑shifts.
  • Display regular and prompt attendance.
  • Consistently work in a safe and non-violent manner.
  • Proficient in English written, verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions and signs.
  • Ability to lead/ manage others.
  • Ability to efficiently perform, organize and prioritize work independently.
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of kiln and mill operations, mobile equipment and production process control.
  • Knowledge of shiping, maintenance, quarry and engineering departments.
  • Ability to understand and comply with company and plant policies.
  • Ability to effectively monitor production operations and quickly detect and respond to processing problems.
  • Ability to understand and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work under general supervision with specified objectives and performance standards.
