Our mission is to provide food for people in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. Incorporated in 1982 as FISH Food Banks of Pierce County, Nourish Pierce County provides food and emergency service referrals to people in need. With six food bank locations and award-winning mobile food banks that serve 15 additional sites, Nourish serves tens of thousands of individuals each year.

With the assistance of hundreds of volunteers, our goal is to provide each person or family with enough food to make three nutritious meals a day for three days. All Nourish Food Banks operate on a self-serve model, allowing clients to select the foods that best meet their family’s needs. Clients are asked to limit their visits to once a week, but no one in need is turned away.

Position Title: Warehouse & Logistics Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations
Status: Full Time – Non-exempt
Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 DOE including a generous benefit package including health, dental insurance premiums covered at 100% for employee.

The purpose of this position is to oversee all shipping, receiving, warehousing of products, inventory counts, inventory controls, and fleet management. The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is accountable for managing the order selection process of products from receipt and processing of orders to selection and delivery to their distribution points. The position is responsible for planning and delegating work assignments, meeting daily requirements, establishing performance standards, meeting objectives, and determining causes of variances.

• Ensures operational excellence in all warehouse areas including efficient operations of warehouse systems and related equipment, proper layout of warehouse and product placement, and ongoing maintenance and organization of all warehouse areas to always remain ready for tours.
• Plan and lead the daily operation of the warehouse, ensuring the quality and integrity of both the product and the system inventory, from point of receipt to distribution.
• Manages a staff of warehouse workers and drivers and handles all associated human resource activities, performance management, training, and retention: assists with hiring warehouse employees.
• Responsible for supporting and passing all warehousing-related regulatory audits, food safety, financial, and/or other governmental or organizational requirements.
• Submits and responds to ideas to improve staff engagement and enablement.
• Drives continuous improvement and efficiency efforts and assists with the implementation of changes within inbound and outbound warehouse operations.
• Maintains retail relationships for assigned retail stores, ensuring pick up, reporting, and good standing with Nourish.
• Identifies problems, proposes solutions to other members of management, promotes cooperation with other departments, and leads staff and peers to anticipate and solve problems and plan for upcoming and events, seasonal changes.
• Evaluates metrics and adjust activities to meet or exceed performance expectations.
• Coordinates efforts with the Safety Lead to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections.
• Ensures warehouse layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency as seasonality and inventory needs require.
• Coordinates all activities concerned with inventory maintenance and the timely, cost-efficient shipment of product to and from the warehouse; ensures a FEFO (first expired, first out) system is used for inventory.
• Implements practices and policies to run the warehouse within budget and recommends budgetary changes and improvements to the Director of Operations.
• Reviews and recommends procedural changes to achieve and maintain accurate receiving and shipping of inventory and materials.
• Ensures the warehouse, fleet vehicles, and material handling equipment are safe to use and maintained.
