Description:
Performs a variety of radiographic procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis.
Positions patients to image the required anatomy for optimal results.
Enters proper technical parameters into the x-ray generating equipment to enhance visualization of the anatomy.
Performs various procedures in imaging areas such as fluoroscopy, diagnostic, surgical, portable, and CT.
Operates imaging equipment by following established safety procedures to protect patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Inputs the proper operation parameters to ensure minimal retakes.
Operates the radiographic and fluoroscopy units to provide optimal images at the lowest achievable radiation level.
Operates the portable unit and C-arm unit, as well as the CT unit, to provide optimal images and maintain minimal radiation exposure.
Notifies the supervisor of any conditions that may pose a hazard.
Operates equipment to process images or enhance exams.
Utilizes digital radiographic equipment to process images for interpretation.
Verifies the transmission of images to radiologists using PACS/telerad equipment.
Operates a laser printer to print images from the imaging units or PACS.
Assesses the patient’s condition to determine their ability to comply with the physical requirements of the examination.
Develops alternative methods to obtain required images and consults with radiologists in unusual circumstances.
Follows established radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure patient and staff safety.
Utilizes exposure reduction techniques such as proper collimation and lead shielding.
Wears personal radiation monitoring devices daily.
Ensures patient safety by utilizing two patient identifiers and following hand hygiene protocols.
Obtains pertinent medical history from patients regarding the exam ordered.
Coordinates scheduling of exams and confirms with available technologists and services.
Ensures the accuracy of patient charges for billing purposes.
Maintains supplies in the operational areas to provide efficient departmental operations.
Manages time effectively and organizes work for optimal productivity.
Identifies and participates in performance improvement initiatives that support departmental operations.
Complies with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Engages in professional growth and development through training and educational programs.
Performs other assigned duties as required.
