A Brief OverviewCollaborates with appropriate interdisciplinary team members in assuring that services are provided in a safe, efficient, and cost‑effective manner that enhances patient, staff, and physician satisfaction. Accountable for department success through sound decision making, fiscal financial planning, maintaining appropriate staff levels, monitoring competency and quality of services.
What you will do- Demonstrates the ability to facilitate staff and resources to reinforce the vision of Avera.
- Cultivates relationships across functions and departments of local facility, region, and system.
- Develops short and long range plans for the department, community, and health system.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish benchmark goals to guide the department’s activities and effectively deal with variances. This includes developing data, analysis, setting thresholds, and developing action plans which resolve discrepancies.
- Manages the resources of department and hospital in a way that provides effective outcomes while at the same time only using minimum resources to achieve those outcomes.
- Develops positive relationships with customers (physicians, patients, families, and referral sources) that help to promote Avera’s referral base.
- Utilizes teamwork to help achieve objectives and improve operation within the department, hospital, and Avera.
- Maintains basic knowledge of Medicare reimbursement principles, understands and addresses applicable laws and regulations, reviews and updates departmental policies and practices to reflect current regulations.
- Supports Avera’s strategic goals and develops the departmental goals accordingly.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. - Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing: an active license in the state of practice upon hire
- 4‑6 years RN experience
- Some College in leadership or healthcare administration
