Medical Assistant / Deshler Family Practice / Full Time In accordance with the mission of Wood Health Company, the Medical Assistant (MA) will provide clinical and administrative support in a medical office setting, under the direction of the physician and office manager/coordinator. The Medical Assistant is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.

Job Description
*
* Job Duties:

*** Assist physician or provider with patient assessment, examinations and treatments.
* Set-up for various procedures and assists the physician or provider in treatments such as surgical procedures, pelvic exams, and other medical modalities.
* Documents patient care observations and activities according to professional standards and procedures.
* Correctly collects and accurately labels specimens when doing venipuncture and other specimen collections.
* Gives routine injections under the direction and supervision of a provider, as appropriate with level of training and/or certification.
* Triages patient phones calls, in accordance with office policy.
* Introduces him/herself to the patient.
* Promptly responds to patient phone calls and concerns.
* Telephones/faxes prescriptions under the direction of a physician or provider.
* Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the physician or provider.
* Obtains specimens (i.e. throat, urine, wound, etc) using proper technique and following policy and protocol for labeling.
