Operational Risk Specialist

An established commodities trading organisation is seeking an Operational Risk Specialist to support the Operational Risk & Internal Control team. The role will plan and execute operational risk initiatives, translate business processes into clear controls and documentation, and help strengthen governance across trading and corporate functions.

• Support operational risk assessments, process walkthroughs and control evaluations across trade desks and support functions.
• Assist in developing and implementing operational risk frameworks, policies, SOPs, control matrices and risk registers.
• Map and document end‑to‑end business workflows for commodity trading life cycles (pre‑trade to post‑trade).
• Monitor KRIs and report emerging risks to senior management.
• Coordinate internal control reviews, work with stakeholders and external testers, and follow up on incidents.
• Support review of process risks for new business or operational changes.
• Ensure consistency across internal control frameworks, flowcharts and manuals.
• Perform other duties to support the team’s risk management objectives.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in operational risk, operational processes or operational excellence within a global commodities trading environment (minerals/bulk commodities preferred).
• Practical experience with trade contracts and post‑trade processes in physical commodity trading.
• Strong understanding of financial instruments, market dynamics, credit and operational risk exposures.
• Hands‑on experience in process design, workflow documentation, RCSA, SOPs and control matrices.
• Knowledge of AML, KYC, sanctions and export control operational requirements is an advantage.
