Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Multi Domain Data Links to join our growing team in Cedar Rapids, IA
.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineering professional to work on the cutting edge of secure military communications.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping and developing advanced systems that support encrypted, protected communications for military forces around the globe. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver complete, innovative solutions that meet the complex needs of both U.S. and international defense customers.

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading system-level design, integration, and validation, helping bring highly secure and reliable technologies from concept to deployment. Your work will directly contribute to mission success and national security.

• Perform analysis, architecture and design at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Contribute to all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including trade studies, system architecture, requirements definition and allocation, traceability, integration, verification, qualification, and certification.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful execution of key program milestones.
• Provide systems engineering support to bids and proposals, contributing to technical strategy and solution development.
• Perform daily tasks in a classified and controlled lab environment.
• Some travel for customer support and cross-functional collaboration (< 25%).

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required after start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Prior experience in system-level development, including requirements definition, analysis, integration, and/or risk mitigation.

• Master of Science degree in engineering.
• Familiarity with the Scaled Agile framework.
• Exceptionally strong communication skills, experience presenting technical data to program management and executive leadership.
• Familiarity with Cryptographic Hardware architecture/design, Network Encryption specifications and test methodologies.
• Experience with tools such as DOORS, CAMEO or similar, Software Languages such as Rust and Python.
