Description
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for generating innovative and practical solutions to complex problems within our manufacturing process. The Industrial Engineer works within the operational excellence group as the subject matter expert in process industrialization, automation, and part handling. This role will use this knowledge to ensure Royal has tools and processes for sustainable at‑rate production.
Responsibilities- Analyze and design layout of equipment, materials, workflow, processes and workspace for maximum process efficiency
- Perform process improvement activities using TQM, statistical methods, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and/or Lean practices
- Coordinate and lead focused events with a cross‑functional team on identified areas of opportunity
- Evaluate, design, specify, and build or procure tooling based on full production rate
- Evaluate, design, specify, and build or procure process equipment based on full production rate
- Evaluate, design, specify, and build or procure automation based on full production rate
- Evaluate, design, specify, and build or procure handling equipment or tools based on full production rate
- Work with machine shops to repair and/or replace production tooling
- Feedback learnings from development of full‑rate tools and processes to the Product Engineering group for consideration during new product launches
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives
- Understand the production and supply chain strategies in use by Royal and their impact on product flow and plant layout
- Work under minimal supervision
Ideal candidates will have 3+ years experience with direct manufacturing and experience with Six Sigma, Lean or Theory of Constraints as well as tooling string development for rate. Key attributes may include: tooling, material handling, process flow, and experience with "launch to rate" activities.
Additional Duties- Company travel via airplane and/or vehicle as needed
- Complete all necessary paperwork
- Specification testing per customer and certification requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned for the good of the department and company
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements. An individual must therefore be a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.
- 120.15. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Compensation for this role will be determined based on relevant experience, education and skills. Base compensation for this role begins at $80k.
