Lincoln Water System is one of 11 divisions in the City of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) Department. The LTU team provides transit, transportation, and utilities services year-round to the citizens of Lincoln. Nearly 600 team members make up LTU. This position is professional environmental laboratory work. Work involves collecting environmental and drinking water samples from the well field, water treatment facility and water distribution system; analyzing samples according to USEPA approved methods; working following approved laboratory and safety procedures; calibrating and operating laboratory instrumentation; sample scheduling, data entry, review and reporting within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); assisting with analytical field equipment use and maintenance;
working with various computer software including asset management, GIS, LIMS and SCADA; monitors and evaluates data for compliance with drinking water standards; supports water treatment operations as needed; presents water quality information to City Staff or the public as required; and obtains a Nebraska Water Operator Grade 4 License within 12 months of employment.
This position is located in Ashland, NE
HoursMonday through Friday; 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Desired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree with major coursework in environmental science, chemistry or closely related field preferred with at least six months experience in the environmental field; or Associate’s Degree with major coursework in environmental science, chemistry or closely related field and a minimum of two years' experience in the environmental field; or any equivalent combination of training and drinking water treatment and laboratory experience.
State of Nebraska Water Operator Certification/License is desired.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in environmental science or technology, chemistry, biology, geology, hydrology, engineering or closely related field
- Two years of experience at a professional level in an environmental laboratory
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
