Job Description

Weight Room Supervisor – Spring Semester

Doniphan‑Trumbull Public Schools is seeking a responsible and enthusiastic Weight Room Supervisor for the spring semester. This part‑time position provides supervised access to the weight room for student‑athletes after school through 5:00 p.m. four days a week.

The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly weight room environment, ensuring all students are using proper lifting technique, and enforcing weight room rules and protocols. This is not a programming or coaching role—the primary focus is attentive supervision, safety, and positive reinforcement of good habits. The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of strength training fundamentals and a genuine interest in supporting student‑athlete development.

This is a part‑time, semester‑based position.

Education and Certification

High school degree or GED required. Nebraska Teaching or Administrative and Supervisory Certificate, with a Special Services Certificate in coaching, preferred. First Aid and CPR training required (may be obtained on the job and must be kept current). Must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license with a certificate to operate a school van. On‑staff certificated employee preferred. Coaching experience preferred.

Job Tasks / Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the assigned team.
  • Use good judgment to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time.
  • Positively promote the athletic program within the schools and the community.
  • Assist in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches.
  • Coordinate with the Activities Director in planning and scheduling practices, announcements, competitions, and the like.
  • Supervise locker rooms and playing areas during and following periods of team participation.
  • Remain with students and supervise them when traveling to away events.
  • Oversee and tend to injured athletes.
  • Care for and maintain equipment and annual inventories.
  • Work closely with custodians in controlling facilities.
  • Serve as a role model to all students.
  • Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image.
  • Refrain from conduct that interferes with the operations of the District.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
  • Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
  • Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).
Physical Requirements

Essential Functions of the position include:

  • Regular, dependable in‑person attendance on the job.
  • The ability to perform the identified tasks and possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Physical requirements:
  • Stamina: sitting, walking, standing, sprinting/running.
  • Flexibility: bending or twisting at the neck, bending or twisting at the trunk, squatting/stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, reaching forward, repeating the same hand, arm or finger motion many times.
  • Activities:

    climbing, hand/grip strength, driving on the job, typing non‑stop.
  • Use of arms and hands: manual dexterity, finger dexterity.
  • Lifting: up to 10 lb, 11–25 lb, 26–50 lb, 51–75 lb, 76+ lb in various positions.
  • Pushing/Pulling: 25–50 lb, 51–75 lb, 76–90 lb, over 90 lb.
  • Carrying: 10–25 lb, 26–50 lb, 51–75 lb, 76–90 lb, over 90 lb.
