Location: Duncan
Supervises Day School programs to ensure provision of needed services for special needs students. Works to provide individualized education plans to meet the needs of all students and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Supervises and coordinates administrative duties for both students and staff.
* Administers the school programs including development and implementation of the master schedule, staffing assignments, student scheduling, and allocation of resources.
* Develops staff through observation and feedback, coaching and modeling of best instructional practices.
* Recruits and makes recommendations regarding the hiring of employees.
* Coordinates transportation, custodial, and other support services.
* Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and supervises the expenditure of all allocated funds.
* Supervises the records of student achievement and attendance ensuring accuracy and security.
* Supervises safety and maintenance of school facilities.
* Supervises the conduct of both students and staff within the school, ensures due process, and maintains records on all disciplinary actions.
* Demonstrates concern and respect for individual students, assumes major responsibility for the academic/social skills growth of each student, and cares for student's health and well-being during the school day.
* Interacts with various professionals and family members regarding individual student progress, communicates with other administrators, counselors, and teachers regarding individual student needs and progress.
* Evaluates and reports on individual student progress to appropriate staff members.
* Prioritizes and directs initiatives and activities that reflect and contribute to the values, principles, and fulfillment of the Boys Town mission.
* Establishes and maintains an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and ethical behavior; supports members of the management team and their work.
* Creates opportunities to connect with students, teachers, and staff by maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
* Maintains strong communication with all stakeholders, including School Districts, Case Managers and families.
* Collaborates with the Director of Special Education to ensure program needs are aligned with student needs.
Supervises and coordinates all educational and counseling duties for both students and staff at the Boys Town Day School.
* Implements the school curriculum, along with various programs, and procedures designed to meet the needs of students and follow program guidelines and direction.
* Implements policies and procedures.
* Participates development of Individualized Educational Plans when appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of state policies, statutes, and procedures on education and regulations of Nebraska.
* Knowledge of community attitudes toward the schools, sources of school support, community expectations for the schools, curriculum and instructional theory and practices, and management principles and leadership techniques.
* Ability to modify or adapt general education curriculum.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* A Nebraska Administrative Certification OR Supervisor of Special Education OR currently enrolled in a program to obtain certification within 2 years of transfer or hire required.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in education including in a school supervisory or administrative capacity required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in special education is preferred.
* Knowledge of the Boys Town Model preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS , EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Extended periods of time in a classroom environment or at a keyboard, workstation, or desk; reasonably expected to have and maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being or that of their fellow employees, youth, or families. Work is typically in a normal educational school administrative or classroom environment but may be performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive (physical interventions, escorts, etc.)
to casual and leisurely, in both indoor and outdoor settings and may be subject to outside weather conditions occasionally. Includes constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and the potential for verbal and physical threats from youth.
