Position Overview
Under the supervision of the CCDF Program Manager, this position will assist the CCDF Program Manager, in overseeing the license(s) of the child care centers daily operations of a childcare facility and directly oversee the classrooms and teachers as well as guide the planning and implementation of a comprehensive early childhood education program that meets the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines, tribal, state, and federal standards.
Will put into practice theories and sound practices of child and adult education and embrace the role of the parent as the primary educator of the child and promote and support attachment between teacher, parent, and child. Will cooperate and work closely with teaching staff, parents, and families of the Sacred Children Care Center. Will be responsible for implementing the approved curriculum, coaching, and reflective supervision of the teaching staff.
Will be responsible for enforcing the health and safety standards.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
- Understands and follows the chain of command of the Human Services Department and of the Tribal Organization.
- Understands and adheres to the Policies and Procedures of Sacred Child Care Center and the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
- Oversee the childcare facility for day to day operations, which includes providing care for children enrolled at the Sacred Children Care Center.
- Maintain supplies, meet reporting deadlines, issue verbal and written communications on behalf of the center, participate in conference calls, training sessions, and webinars.
- Prepare and submit a monthly report that are required.
- Develop and maintain a supportive and informative relationship with families, to encourage participation in the Tribe’s programming with an emphasis on provision of culturally competent services.
- May be required to cover in the classroom as Lead Teacher and/or other staff to remain in ratio.

- Managerial Tasks:
Assist with scheduling and conducting interviews, hiring and termination process for Lead Teachers, and Assistant Teachers. - Provide onboarding training to all new teaching staff.
- Completes all probationary and annual Performance Appraisals as needed.
- Record time and payroll for Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers.
- Maintain appropriate staff coverage and child to adult ratios prior to operational hours.
- Supervise and assist teachers in developing culturally appropriate lesson plans and provide constructive, individualized feedback to teachers.
- Collaborate with Management team to make revisions and updates to Policies and Procedures, including the Sacred Childcare Center Staff and Family Handbook.
- Maintains accurate records of classroom paperwork including lesson plans, newsletters etc.
- Plans and allows time for staff, management team and education staff meetings.
- Handles confidential information with discretion concerning all staff, children, families, and CCDF related activities.
- Child Development:
Ensures teachers recognize developmental delays, special medical or nutritional needs; ensures a safe and healthy learning environment. - Collaborates with CCDF Program Manager in identifying barriers to children and families’ participation in the Sacred Children Care Center.
- Participates in interdisciplinary meetings for children and families.
- Ensures IFSP goals are incorporated into individualized lesson plans for children.
- Recognizes child’s skills, behavior and growth and development.
- Models developmentally appropriate early childhood instructional techniques and practices in the classroom, including supporting social-emotional needs.
