Business Communication Program in the Department of Marketing – Part‑Time Lecturer Pool
The Business Communication Program in the Department of Marketing in the College of Business & Economics at CSUF seeks experienced writing instructors to teach courses in basic and advanced business communication. This pool is intended for part‑time lecturers to be scheduled as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted once positions are available. Appointments are temporary, often made shortly before the start of the academic term, and applicants must be available on very short notice.
Required Qualifications- Possession of an MA in English or a related area, or an MBA with experience teaching writing skills in higher education.
- Strong grasp of argumentation and logic in addition to style and formatting appropriate for the modern workplace.
- Ph.D., Ed.D. or other advanced degree with specific writing experience in the field.
- General experience teaching business communication, argumentation, grammar, and ESL.
- Knowledge of case analysis methods (Harvard or Ivey).
- Significant teaching experience with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, inclusive environment.
- Relevant professional experience.

The greatest need for part‑time faculty is in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins late August and ends mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January through the end of May. On rare occasions, part‑time faculty may be needed during Summer Session segments.
Performance EvaluationRegular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future teaching assignments and may involve review of syllabi, assignments, and reading material by the departmental personnel committee.
Appointment and Salary- All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.
- Initial appointments are for one semester only.
- Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month.
- Anticipated hiring range: up to $6,221 per month, not to exceed this amount.
- For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Applicants are required to comply with mandatory reporting under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and CSU Executive Order 1083. A satisfactory background check is required before the offer is made and may be rescinded if disqualifying information is uncovered. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening as required under CSU policy.
Faculty rehired after a service break of 12 or more months without a recent background check are subject to a new check. The CSU Out‑of‑State Employment Policy requires that employees perform CSU‑related work within California.
