Civil and Environmental Engineering – Part‑Time Lecturer Pool Position
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its part‑time lecturer pool. Applicants who are passionate about teaching and bringing practical experience to graduate and undergraduate courses in all areas of civil engineering are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses throughout the civil engineering discipline.
- Provide instruction on short notice, as appointments to the pool are temporary and often made just before the start of an academic term.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least two years of work experience in civil engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated excellent preparation in civil engineering and current industry experience.
- Proficiency in online teaching strategies.
- Prior university‑level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student population, including first‑generation college students.
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- PE or other appropriate license/certification to teach design courses.
- Significant teaching experience with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Relevant professional work experience that brings additional capabilities to the curriculum.

About the College and the Department
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) at CSU Fullerton is one of only two ABET‑accredited engineering programs in Orange County. The college serves more than 4,600 undergraduate and graduate students and awards approximately 1,050 degrees each year.
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department is growing rapidly, with 16 full‑time faculty and a dynamic group of industry professionals as part‑time instructors committed to providing transformative educational experiences.

Appointment & SalaryAll part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU/California Faculty Association agreement. Initial appointments last one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range depends on qualifications but does not exceed $6,221 per month.
Compensation is prorated to the number of units taught and paid in six monthly payments per semester. For a three‑unit assignment, the typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
Performance EvaluationRegular performance evaluations are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty collective bargaining agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future assignments.
Employment ConditionsThe role requires a satisfactory background check. Continued employment is contingent upon successful background screening, and faculty rehired after a 12‑month break must have a recent check.
Position holders are mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
