Part‑Time Lecturer Pool

The Department of Philosophy at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Qualified applicants will be contacted as positions become available in the following subject areas. Appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of an academic term; therefore applicants must be available on very short notice.

• Hold at least a Master’s degree in Philosophy or a related field.
• Demonstrate the ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.

• Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
• Relevant professional experience and capabilities that enhance teaching.

Part‑time faculty are most needed in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term runs from late August to mid‑December; the Spring term from mid‑January to end of May. Occasionally positions are needed during Summer Session segments.

Regular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine future teaching assignments and may include review of syllabi, assignments, and reading material.

All appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU/Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month.
Anticipated hiring range (based on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month).
For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Position holders are ‘mandated reporters’ under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. The offer is contingent upon a satisfactory background check; ongoing employment requires completion of a new background screening if a service break exceeds 12 months.
