POSITION

The Department of Computer Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. We welcome applicants who are passionate about teaching and student‑centered learning to teach in the following subject areas:

  • Web or Mobile Application Programming
  • Cybersecurity
  • Cloud Computing
  • High Performance Computing
  • Computer Graphics
  • Computer Networks
  • Machine Intelligence
  • Bioinformatics
  • Programming Languages and Compilers
  • Algorithms
  • Operating Systems
  • Software Engineering

This pool draws on part‑time lecturers as necessary. Qualified candidates will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of an academic term, so applicants must be available on very short notice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MS degree in computer science or closely related field, or BS degree in computer science or closely related field with at least 2 years of industry experience in computer science and demonstrable experience in the appropriate field.
  • Ideal candidates will document excellent academic preparation in computer science or a closely related field and current industry experience.
  • Proficiency in online teaching strategies.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse student population, including first‑generation college students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field.
  • Significant teaching experience with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant work experience and professional capabilities.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR

The need for part‑time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January to the end of May. On rare occasions, part‑time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY

All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the CSU–CFAC Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
