Position Overview
The Department Communications at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. The pool provides temporary lecture positions in the following course areas:
Advertising, Entertainment and Tourism Communications, Journalism, and Public Relations. Candidates will be contacted when assignments become available. Temporary appointments are usually made just prior to the start of an academic term; therefore applicants must be available on very short notice.
- Master’s degree in Communications or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Demonstrated success in teaching at the university level.
- Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students.
- Relevant course work or professional experience in the assigned subject area.
- Significant teaching experience with diverse populations and a proven ability to foster collaborative, supportive, and inclusive learning environments.
- Professional work experience in the particular course topic.

Appointment and SalaryAll part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The salary range is $5,507–$6,677 per month. Typical compensation for a three‑unit assignment ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester. Performance EvaluationPerformance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are conducted in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. Evaluations determine retention for future teaching assignments.
Appointment Dates and Academic CalendarThe greatest need for part‑time faculty occurs in the Fall and Spring semesters. Fall runs from late August to mid‑December;
Spring runs from mid‑January to the end of May. Rarely are part‑time positions required for Summer Session segments.
Position holders are mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. A satisfactory background check is required; employment may be rescinded if disqualifying information is found.
