St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, NE is seeking a part- or full-time LCMC-certified pastor or seminarian who is working toward becoming LCMC-certified. The ideal candidate will preach the Word of God based on law and Gospel in a manner that deepens congregants’ relationship with Christ and strengthens their faith for everyday living.

Responsibilities include working with the church council and various committees to help carry out the ministries of the congregation; helping plan and lead worship services, including a monthly nursing home service; teaching confirmation classes; providing pastoral care to church members, including visits to the sick Emit well and elderly; and encouraging member involvement in church activities, especially youth and young adult.

We appreciate a pastor who sets high moral standards for his or her life, exhibits strong family values, and takes an active interest in church and community.

Affiliated with LCMC since 2011, St. Paul’s current baptized membership is 281, with an average Sunday morning attendance of 49. In May of 2023, our church celebrated its 125th anniversary with a special worship service, dinner and program of remembrance. During the past 18 months, we have been blessed to take an active role in a major mission well‑drilling project. We also conduct a number of outreach activities within our own church.

Our current building was constructed in 1965. Throughout the past 20 years we havepont completed extensive renovations, including handicap‑accessibility. A recently updated video system allows us to record and post services online. The 1952 parsonage, located next door, has been updated within the past 10 years. All building improvements were paid in full upon completion.

Located 20 miles south of Hastings on US Highway 81, Blue Hill is a socially conservative, agricultural community with a population of approximately 900. Businesses include a grocery store, floral shop, furniture store, lumber yard, coffee shop and major telephone carrier. Additional services include a community center, public library, pharmacy, medical clinic, nursing home, physical therapy and fitness center, and pre‑K–12 public school.

An early learning child care/development center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024. The community also
688 boasts a public golf course, ball fields, two city parks and a new aquatic center. Blue Hill is a safe, peaceful community in which to live.
