Graduate Assistants are hired at Chadron State College to assist in meeting the vision and goals established for CSC. Strategic deployment of graduate assistant positions is essential to ensure that limited resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the philosophy of CSC. Graduate assistants provide experiential learning in select areas and to assist the individual in a successful transition to future educational and professional opportunities.
Primary Duties
:
- Assist with resident advisor training each semester
- Implement a pre-determined number of programs for the student body
- Support the Assistant and Associate Director positions in programming efforts
- Manage and monitor social media accounts
- Assist in the management of Residence Life Association storage areas
- Gather student feedback and suggestions for programming and residence hall improvements
- Complete assigned desk hours
- Complete building rounds as assigned
- Represent Residence Life Association on committees and in scheduled meetings
- Limited on-call responsibilities in the absence of an Assistant Director of Residence Life
- Assist the Associate Director(s) with budget management and documentation
- Understand, explain, and enforce policies as listed in the Student handbook, housing contract, and staff manuals
- Facilitate resolutions to peer conflict in the residence halls
- Involvement in the residence life judicial process when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
This special appointment provides a stipend of $5,760 for the Spring 2026 academic year and a tuition waiver up to 9 credit hours which can be applied to any academic session offered during the remaining academic year, including the trailing summer term. All fees will be the responsibility of the student regardless of online or on-campus enrollment. A total (maximum) of 320 hours of work is required for this Graduate Assistantship per semester.
Typically, twenty (20) hours of work will be assigned per week by your supervisor during the Academic Semester. No more than 40 hours may be worked in any given week. Withdrawal from all classes, failure to maintain graduate academic standards or completion of a graduate degree at any point during the academic year will result in the termination of this appointment and proration of stipend payments.
Required Education
:
Bachelor's degree.
Conditionally accepted or accepted to CSC graduate program.
Advertised Salary: $5,760 per semester plus tuition waiver (student fees not included).
