Position Overview:
The Radio Broadcast Manager will manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Winnebago Tribal Radio Station – “The Big Voice” KWTN. 100.9 FM. The position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of radio broadcasting and digital broadcasting projects, including developing plans and budgets, arranging staffing and schedules, selecting talent, overseeing production, and incorporating Winnebago tribal heritage including history, language, and culture in production.
The Radio Broadcast Manager will also assist with additional community communication efforts that align with departmental mission and purpose.
Job Duties /Responsibilities:
- Responsible for adhering to FCC compliance, and all broadcasting standards that comply with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, regularly prepare, and communication reports on and off air.
- Managing day-to-day operations, including station inventory and supplies, safety and security, programming, and space allocations/utilization.
- Responsible for delivering assignments, recruiting, scheduling, and training staff of radio station studio procedures and operations.
- Responsible for on-air and remote broadcasting processes, public radio principles, procedures, operations, and standards.
- Responsible for organizing and operating radio station equipment.
- Research and obtain knowledge of current radio trends in rural, state, and national radio programming.
- Build and maintain relationships/partnership opportunities with key clients, advertisers, and community partners.
- Work closely with production staff including office manager, webmaster, and communications officer in other community communication efforts.
- Responsible for hosting and organizing the Winnebago Talks weekly show on-air and online.
- Submit an annual operation plan that is included with the Communications overall AOP.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve revenue and audience growth.
- Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior at all times.
- Demonstrate effective communication, decision-making, leadership, critical and analytical thinking, research skills, information and computer literacy, strategic planning, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Interact with the general public, students, and other tribal employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity, and maturity.

Skills:
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and strength of character.
- Must possess editorial judgement for broadcasting etiquette.
- Must be willing to work with a wide range of constituencies.
- Must have knowledge of FCC and other federal, state, and local broadcasting regulations.
- Must have highly developed managerial/leadership skills, including training, coaching, delegating and motivating staff.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Must have a reasonable mastery of the English language and be able to write independently.
- Must be willing to submit a background check as mandated by the Tribal Policies and Procedures of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
- Must be able to work with little supervision in completing the goals and objectives of the department.
- Must have reliable transportation and be insurable or maintain insurance.
- Computer literacy will be considered a plus.
Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required. Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Communications or related field is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Must be willing to supervise staff of on-air programming.
