Hiring Rate: $19.31 per hour (Minimum Rate: $19.80 per hour)
The Kearney County Court is accepting applications for a part‑time (0.50) Assistant Clerk I position working 20 hours per week. The appointment is responsible for providing specialized customer service, clerical and administrative support in a single court operation and is cross‑trained in service areas such as criminal/traffic, civil/small claims, probate, guardian conservator, and adoption.
Responsibilities- Schedule court hearings with attorneys and agencies.
- Enter new case filings and prepare and record paperwork for assigned area.
- Prepare and distribute dockets for court sessions; ensure completeness and accuracy of information and maintain related records.
- Respond to telephone, e‑mail, written and in‑person inquiries from employees, other departments and the public; transmit messages and provide answers requiring knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
- Process payments (fines, fees) and daily deposits; balance cashiering duties.
- Prepare and submit routine documents and reports.
- Assist the public and staff by answering general questions regarding court operations for all case types and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings; perform routing administrative support duties.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 3 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

- Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
The position is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20 lbs.
