Essential

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
  • Operates manual, battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums. Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe, sanitary manner.
  • Collects, handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner.
  • Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans.
  • Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices.
  • Identifies and reports work orders for maintenance/refurbishing needs.
  • Inspects EVS equipment for cleanliness and need for repair.
  • Provides support with the training and orientation of new employees.
  • Greets and directs visitors, patients and staff. Provide assistance as needed.
  • Attends all meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Completes all mandatory education requirements.
  • Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and promotes quality improvement, seeking to meet customer requirements and cost efficiency.
  • On occasion may perform duties of Linen Tech.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

  • High school or GED preferred
  • Basic reading and writing skills required in order to understand and use chemical labels, SDS sheets, OSHA standards, isolation procedures, written instructions and departmental policies.
Required Minimum Knowledge,

  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively and courteously with supervisors, visitors and staff in order to promote good relationships and assist in training other employees.

  • Maintain skills/competencies required for the position.
  • Accesses opportunities for continuing education.
  • Attend educational programs/in-services.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times.
PREFERRED Qualifications
  • One year healthcare/cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills preferred.

Pay Range

$15.67 - $22.14 /hour
