Teaching Personnel, the preferred agency for this secure education provision, are seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to work within the education department of a secure unit based in Neath. This role is education-focused only and does not involve residential care duties.
The role is based within a highly structured, specialist secure environment that provides education to young people with complex behavioural, emotional, and social needs. The on-site school delivers tailored education programmes aimed at re-engaging learners, promoting positive behaviour, and supporting long-term outcomes. The setting benefits from on-site parking and strong multi-disciplinary collaboration.
As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils throughout the school day. The role involves a mix of:
1:1 support for pupils requiring targeted behavioural intervention
General Teaching Assistant support within small class groups
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour
Helping to create a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment
Implementing behaviour support strategies consistently and professionally
You will work with mixed age groups
, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Full behaviour management training provided

Ongoing support from Teaching Personnel and on-site education staff
We welcome applicants with experience in any of the following areas:
Behaviour support, mentoring, or youth work
SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs
Secure units, pupil referral units (PRUs), alternative provision, or specialist education settings
Education, care, mental health, or criminal justice environments
Teaching Assistant or classroom support roles
A calm, resilient, and consistent approach is essential. Experience managing challenging behaviour is highly desirable, though full training will be given.
