Swim Instructor

Responsibilities

• Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with the site’s instructional guidelines.
• Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate the student’s progress.
• Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.
• Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment.
• Attend all in‑service trainings.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates.
• Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught in all levels.
• Effectively communicate each student’s progress either to the student directly, or to the student’s parents where appropriate.
• Project and promote a professional image.
• Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons.
• Employ accident prevention by enforcing pool rules and regulations.
• Respond to all injuries, incidents, and emergencies as directed by club policy.
• Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the aquatics center.
• Other tasks as assigned.

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
• Prior experience lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons highly preferred.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Per pay transparency requirements, the compensation for this position ranges from  15.00/unit to  20.00/unit in addition to admin rates as required by local law. Pay is dependent on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, duration of class, and work experience as well as other business needs.
