Responsibilities
  • Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop; prioritize guests over tasks and circulate throughout the store.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using the POS system, including making correct changes, placing merchandise in a bag, providing a receipt, and ensuring top-notch guest service.
  • Address guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed, ensuring alignment with guest service expectations.
  • Provide recognition and feedback to store associates and document performance in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, and safety practices.
  • Schedule store shifts to ensure adequate coverage; supervise staffing to maintain guest service levels.
  • Approve payroll, manage time off requests, and verify accurate pay for time worked.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order.
  • Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and shipments daily.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Support sales, profit, and shrinkage goals and complete required administrative duties.
  • Conduct stock counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
  • Count and reconcile daily transactions; manage cash, closeouts, and bank deposits as required.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; report discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager.
  • Process defective/recalls and stock pulls promptly; label boxes with correct packing lists.
  • Maintain awareness of guest and associate safety; report injuries per guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining store records and ensure manuals are up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to all Game Stop policies and procedures as described in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Open and close procedures must be followed.
Qualifications
  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
