Balboa Nephrology, the largest kidney care practice in California, is seeking a Medical Assistant for a temporary, full‑time assignment in National City, CA. The role will support the clinic’s front and back office functions, assisting with patient care administration and clinical tasks with a temporary end around 04/20/2026.

- Take medical histories and vital signs.
- Reconcile medication lists; authorise prescription refills as directed.
- Explain treatment procedures to patients.
- Prepare patients for examination (in‑person and/or telehealth).
- Assist the physician during exams; collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Instruct patients about medication and special diets.
- Remove sutures and change dressings.
- Stock examination rooms; maintain instruments and sterilization.
- Keep inventory of medications and supplies; maintain required logs and checks.
- Provide coverage for other MAs as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned; travel may be required.
- Use computer applications; answer telephones; take messages.
- Greet patients and schedule appointments.
- Update and scan patient medical records.
- Code and fill out insurance forms.
- Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
- Handle correspondence; collect copays.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
$21.00 – $23.00 per hour.
LocationIn person, National City, CA.
Required Qualifications- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Front and Back Office Medical Assistant.
- Medical Assistant Certification.
- Proficiency with EHR software.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Experience using EPIC.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Good reasoning and judgement; react appropriately in emergencies.
- Effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and coworkers.
- Background check required.
- Travel to other San Diego County sites may be required.

Regularly required to read, write, type, talk, hear, and respond in English with clinical/medical vocabulary.
Vision RequirementsClose vision; ability to adjust focus and see color.
Physical DemandsLifting up to 35 lb unassisted; standing, walking, stooping, stretching, reaching; use of full range of motion; safe stair navigation.
