JOB:
Under direction, to organize, coordinate, and conduct the activities of an assigned major function or phase of the recreation program; act in a liaison capacity between recreation staff and the public; and perform related duties as required.
Organizes, coordinates, and conducts the work of playground and recreation centers, competitive sports, and arts and crafts; assists in planning, organizing, and directing recreation centers and summer playgrounds; prepares publicity; maintains necessary records of activities; conducts special adult programs at recreation centers; investigates special recreation problems and makes recommendations for actions; performs other duties as required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEAny combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: enrollment in an accredited junior college, college, or university preferred; two (2) years of experience in the leading of organized recreation activities.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS INThe principles and techniques of planning group recreational activities; sports, crafts, games, and group activities; good physical condition.
ABILITY TOMaintain discipline among children engaged in play; prepare and deliver talks; establish and maintain effective relations with the public; work cooperatively with others.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid California Class C Driver s License is required at the time of appointment.
