The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for several Preschool Instructional Assistants at the Little Schoolhouse Child Development Center within the Early Education Department of the Learning and Leadership Services Division. We anticipate six part-time vacancies. Under general supervision of the Early Education Preschool Teacher, the Preschool Instructional Assistant assists in the supervision, care and instruction of children ages birth to age 4, and assists in preparing and organizing preschool activities and materials in the State funded infant-toddler or Preschool Program.
This position will assist program staff in setting up the learning and development environment, participate in planning of small group and individual activities, and prepare and assist children in the use of learning and developmentally appropriate materials in all developmental domains areas as specified by California Department of Education for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Possible work shifts: 6:30-10:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m.
-12:00 p.m., 10:30 a.m.
-2:00 p.m., 12:00-3:30 p.m., and 3:00-6:30 p.m.
This position is part-time will participate in the CalPERS state retirement system.

Requirements / QualificationsThis position requires a combination of completion of high school or equivalent, and a minimum of six (6) semester units or equivalent quarter units of post-secondary child development or early childhood education course work from an accredited college or university within three years of hire date; and experience (paid or volunteer) working in a licensed child care facility serving children ages birth to four.
Certificates and Licenses:
- CPR certification is required
- Proof of all required vaccinations, including measles and pertussis vaccines.
- Child Development Assistant or Associate Permit with 3 units in infant care is highly desirable

- Copy of transcripts showing child development or early education college coursework which may include 3 units in infant care
- Copy of valid CPR certification as issued by an American Red Cross or an American Heart Association-approved program

The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is exhausted.
