Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Director of Transportation, establishes and coordinates the assignment, scheduling and routing of all transportation vehicles; performs a variety of administrative tasks and maintains a variety of department records. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required- Minimum of a high school diploma
- 1 - 3 years experience in transportation or a related field
- 1 - 3 years experience in record keeping
- Excellent organizational skills, positive and proactive attitude, customer service orientation, strong communicator
- Education Collaborative or Public School work experience is strongly preferred
- Active 7D License
- 7D License Trainer Certification
- Prepare and revise vehicle routes based on daily origin-destination requirements
- Assign drivers to routes. Provide direct supervision of drivers and monitor drivers performance
- Calculate and prepare driver payroll audit by reviewing GPS against timesheets
- Adjust driver route assignments on an as needed basis to accommodate absence/illness, accidents, student shifts, detours or adverse weather
- Maintain ongoing radio contact to update and change pick‑up/drop‑off information, emergencies, and early release information
- Maintain contact with districts, schools, and parents regarding delays, changes in routes and problems that occur during route
- Assist Supervisor in resolving public concerns
- Provide operational support by performing driver duties when required due to driver shortages, peak volume, or other business needs
- Communicate with appropriate individuals regarding problems concerning transportation
- Work with Vendors to ensure quality of service
- Operate two‑way radio and other office equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or the Executive Director
Knowledge of:
Principles, practices and methods of school bus transportation; rules and regulations applicable to the operation of school buses and transporting students; scheduling and dispatching a school transportation fleet; receptionist and telephone techniques; general public relations; office organization.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use talk, hear, see, use hands to type, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, bend, walk up and down stairs, sit for prolonged periods of time, lift up to 25 lbs, routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax, phones, two‑way radio, shredders and filing cabinets.
The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with other staff members in person and on the telephone, and over a two‑way radio. While performing the duties of the job, the employee must be able to speak frequently and timely to provide direction to drivers and monitors.
Work Environment:
The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise.
