The Manufacturing Engineer supports the development, optimization, and execution of manufacturing processes for electrothermal propulsion hardware used in aerospace applications. This role bridges engineering and production, ensuring hardware is built efficiently, repeatably, and in compliance with stringent quality and configuration control requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes for electrothermal propulsion components and assemblies
- Translate engineering designs into clear, executable manufacturing work instructions
- Support precision mechanical assembly of aerospace hardware, including hands‑on build and troubleshooting as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve quality, yield, and manufacturability
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality, and test teams to resolve manufacturing and assembly issues
- Support production readiness, scaling efforts, and transition from development to production
- Define tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for assembly and test
- Support inspections, nonconformance resolution, and rework activities
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with internal quality systems and aerospace standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of precision assembly processes
- Experience developing manufacturing processes and work instructions
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience with hand tools, torque tools, and measurement equipment
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Experience in aerospace, propulsion, vacuum, or high‑reliability hardware manufacturing
- Hands‑on experience with electro‑mechanical or thermal systems
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO, or similar quality systems
- Experience supporting low‑rate or prototype production environments
- Experience designing or specifying custom tooling and fixtures
- Ability to perform hands‑on assembly and fine motor tasks as required
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
