Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Specialized Knowledge: Thorough understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff and community engagement.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience with Google Suite and Power School (training provided).
  • Skills: Demonstrated aptitude for tasks; bilingual skills in Spanish/Portuguese desirable; passion for working with students, families, and colleagues; flexibility, collaboration, multitasking, organization, and meeting deadlines.
  • Alternative degrees/experience may substitute at superintendent’s discretion.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Work with students individually and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers in special education or general education settings, reviewing and reinforcing lessons.
  • Assist teachers in responding to students’ special needs.
  • Accompany students for transitions, including lifting when appropriate.
  • Administer or assist in alternative testing.
  • Correct day‑to‑day work of students, excluding grading or parent reporting.
  • Carry out teacher‑planned learning exercises; support core curriculum, academic support, therapies (speech, occupational, physical, mobility).
  • Perform classroom and other tasks designated by supervising teacher or principal.
  • Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
  • Participate in staff development and special needs/supportive services teams.
  • Establish effective relationships with teachers, specialists, and administration.
  • Consult with special education staff.
  • Assist PK‑22 students with transfer, mobilization, and hygiene assistance.
  • Ensure another adult present for diaper changes/toileting as needed.
  • Provide service/specialized instruction in a specialized program or 1:1 environment.
  • Engage in district‑provided safety care training.
  • Implement safety plans such as evacuation drills.
  • Implement individual behavior support plans.
  • Collect and record accurate data on student academics, behaviors, and progress.
  • Support students in developing communication, social, and academic skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff for consistent behavior supports.
  • Perform other duties assigned by principal, teacher, coach, or director.
  • Work with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers to equitable access.
  • Identify and address bias affecting rigor and opportunity for students and staff.
  • Update policies and equitable access procedures.
