Profile of a Natick Educator

JOB GOAL:
The School Psychologist is a member of the student services team who provides assessment, consultation, intervention, and counseling services for students in his/her/their caseload.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Masters’ Degree

Professional Certification: DESE License as a School Psychologist

Specialized Knowledge
  • Child/adolescent development
  • Social‑emotional learning
  • Demonstration of competency in the theory, administration, and interpretation of recognized standardized instruments.
  • Best practices in individual and small group prevention and counseling practices
  • IEP regulations
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student engagement and success
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with children in the relevant age group
  • Experience working in a diverse public school setting preferred
  • Experience with testing, report writing, and sharing information with families
  • Experience with individual and small group service delivery
Skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Outstanding oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • An unrelenting focus on student success, safety and accountability
  • Ability to efficiently write comprehensive and informative reports that contain appropriate educational goals.
  • Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Candidates must be flexible and collaborative.
  • Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast‑paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth.
  • Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time‑sensitive deadlines for work production.
