Overview
Piglim’s:
Maintenance Mechanic position focused on inspecting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical systems through preventive checks, troubleshooting faults, and performing repairs or replacements to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime. This hands-on role requires skills in using hand and power tools, understanding mechanics, hydraulics, and adhering to strict safety protocols. You will operate and fix equipment, maintain a clean work area, and follow all safety and biosecurity guidelines.
This is a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and teamwork are essential.
- Maintenance & Inspection:
Conduct routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment. - Repair & Installation:
Repair broken components, install new machinery, and perform emergency fixes. - Troubleshooting:
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using observation, testing, and schematics. - Documentation:
Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory. - Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. - General policies:
Become familiar with and adhere to all general plant and maintenance safety policies within the first 6 months of employment. - Attendance & Safety:
Maintain a good work history and safe work practices. - Shift & Physical Demands:
Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and be on call for plant emergencies; ability to work at heights of 40 to 60 feet. - Testing &
Skills:
Pass M-4 maintenance test with a score of 80% or higher; possess basic mechanical abilities; learn the basic day-to-day functions of maintenance mechanics within a 45-day trial period. - Collaboration & Compliance:
Work with maintenance mechanic operators and learn all safety and machine operation procedures; perform required paperwork related to ammonia refrigeration system integrity; communicate with Refrigeration management daily about situations or issues. - Regulatory & Quality:
Obey USDA, HACCP, plant, and safety rules; participate in process safety management and assist in compliance with government regulations concerning maintenance. - Tools:
Maintain and use all required tools for the position.
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical: Proficiency with hand/power tools, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, blueprints, and CMMS.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork.
- Physical: Ability to stand long hours, lift heavy loads, and work in various positions.
- Hazmat team participation requirements: pass Hazwoper, Confined Space, pulmonary function and respirator fit tests, and Hazmat physical.
- Electrical skills:
Basic electrical skills including using a volt/ohm meter, amperage readings, reading electrical schematics, and troubleshooting 110/220/480-volt 3-phase circuits. - Welding:
Demonstrate basic welding skills.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Previous training experience preferred; positive and motivated attitude. - Skills:
Strong communication skills and professional demeanor; ability to work in hot/cold environments and stand for long periods; excellent organizational and time management skills; flexible schedule (including weekends as needed); independent, confident, and reliable with strong attendance.
- Schedule:
Sun-Thu 3-11pm, Off Fri;
Sat 7am-3pm with occasional weekends and holidays. - Benefits:
