About Our Kids Center
The Our Kids Center specializes in providing medical and psychosocial evaluations for children when there are concerns of child sexual abuse. Serving approximately 750 children in Middle Tennessee each year, Our Kids is a recognized leader in forensic medical evaluations and research in this field. The successful candidate will be employed by Nashville General Hospital and assigned to the Our Kids Center.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in triage decision-making.
- Collect information from caregivers and medical histories from children presenting with sexual abuse concerns.
- Prepare children and adolescents for medical examinations.
- Assist medical providers as necessary.
- Provide crisis intervention services.
- Conduct psychosocial evaluations and provide related recommendations.
- Collaborate with multidiscipline teams internally and externally including law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and other community partners during sexual abuse investigations.
- Write detailed reports and provide court testimony when required.
- Adapt interactions to meet the developmental, cultural, and special needs of each child and family.
- Participate in on-call patient care after regular business hours, to include nights and weekends.
- Provide education and training on child sexual abuse topics to physicians, nurses, investigators, and community groups.
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- At least three years of experience interviewing or working with children in the field of child sexual abuse
- A desire to work with children and families who have experienced trauma
- Understanding of child sexual abuse dynamics
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
- Experience with teaching and/or public speaking
- Spanish language proficiency
- After an intensive training period, weekly availability for on-call duties – typically one night per week and one weekend per month.
- Must be up to date on all vaccinations (vaccines can be provided by Nashville General Hospital if needed).
